And we’re back…to blogging

Yikes. It has been over a year since I updated the blog here. Talk about a serious case of the cobbler’s children have no shoes.

Over the past fifteen months Capitol Web Design has been involved in numerous projects. Some of which I’ll be blogging about over the next couple weeks.

I am loathe to say “more is coming soon” without providing any additional posts today, but since time is limited I will have to leave it at that, with the promise that I’ll be updating some links from the old posts and providing links to a couple new sites that we’ve helped get off the ground.

Until then…

On the NBC Nightly News

A web site that we developed for a media watchdog, Accuracy In Media, was recently mentioned on the NBC Nightly News.

The NBC news report about the new English-language Al-Jazeera talked about Accuracy In Media’s efforts to limit Al-Jazeera’s market reach. As part of those efforts the web site, stopaljazeera.org, was mentioned and displayed.

I’ll have screenshots as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can watch the segment at stopaljazeera.org.

Project on Fair Representation

We just finished launching the site for the Project on Fair Representation.

From their main page:

Founded in 2005, we are a not-for-profit legal defense fund designed to support litigation that challenges racial and ethnic classifications and preferences in state and federal courts.

Should my non-profit organization have a blog?

Yes!

Just like a business, a non-profit organization can benefit from a blog.

You can provide a direct channel from the leadership of your group to your supporters and donors. In addition, blogs can be effective tools in promoting your non-profit and keeping interested parties up-to-date on what your organization is doing. Your blog will likely become a popular part of your web site.

When you blog, people listen. A quick example…

Last year we setup a blog for the chairman of a non-profit organization in Washington, DC. Since then the chairman’s blog has become the most visited page on their web site, receiving more hits (visitors) than any article that the organization has published!

Should my business have a blog?

Yes.

Blogs are a great way to establish communication with current and future customers. In addition, a blog can be great way for an online business to generate more traffic (visitors to your site). More people coming to your web site means that you have more potential customers.
